Top USPS United States Postal Service Breast Cancer Awareness Shirt
When I was 17 years old, I stole a book from school. Borrow. I lost it in my backpack. Repurposed as a glider – no matter what. I’ve had this book – the USPS United States Postal Service Breast Cancer Awareness Shirt and I will buy this 1950 edition of Walt Whitman’s “Leaves of Grass” – on my shelf and close to me for 20 years. The book, as I now realized when I opened and read it – something I had never done before this year – was the property of my 11th grade English teacher. Teacher. He borders on your fears and inflates your hopes. Something that frees you from your parents and at the same time makes you a brighter, kinder copy of them.
(I was a terrible teenager. Always in extreme pain. Most of it was directed at my parents, the USPS United States Postal Service Breast Cancer Awareness Shirt and I will buy this rest at myself). When opened, the book contained the teacher’s maiden name and the university address. Then on the next page there is her married name. As if to say that he was twice the student and adult versions of this woman. Currently she is 75 years old. Maybe 80 years old. She could be 90 years old and no one would know. We are still friends. She and her husband came to our house for dinner in London, where she let my daughter smell her whiskey and thus ensured that my daughter never wanted to smell whiskey again. We have a stuffed hedgehog named after her because my husband and I decided to name our daughter’s stuffed animals after their gifts to incorporate them into everyday life. Everyone lives in America. Except us.
