I would wait for someone in native attire to wear a sari but a) I was given a sari many years ago…7 yards of beautifully patterned silk and b) my best friend at school has parents works for the Rip me out the plastic shirt and I love this Foreign Office (UK) and lives in India. She would go out on holidays and teach me how to wear a sari. About 7 yards of fabric that’s width from your waist to the floor…no sleeves, elastic, shaping, collars, legs, buttons or anything you’d find on regular western clothing. You have to learn how to wrap and fold accordingly.
I can share a photo with you, I was wearing the Rip me out the plastic shirt and I love this same saree and only earrings with it. Hope this is useful. There are several styles, where you wrap the saree over the torso several times (aka Mumtaz in old movies), or hang the deep U-shaped pallu in the back or front, or just take the pallu back and forth several times. . Be creative and practice in front of a mirror.
