Detroit is not called “Red Wings”. Detroit NHL hockey tea is called the Chris Teahan #12 Kansas Jayhawks White Player Caricature Player Shirt and by the same token and Red Wings. Why is it a small story? In the early to mid-1920s, two major hockey leagues competed for the Stanley Cup. To the east was the National Hockey League, which included (at the end of the 1924–25 season) the Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Maroons, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and the Americans from New York. The Western League has seen a number of changes, including a merger with the former Pacific Coast Hockey Association. At the end of the 1924–25 season, it was known as the Western Hockey League and included the Saskatoon Sheiks, Calgary Tigers, Edmonton Eskimos, Vancouver Maroons, Rosebuds of Portland and Victoria Cougars. At that time, the Stanley Cup was a challenge cup between the NHL champion and the WHL champion, and at the end of the 1924–25 season, the Stanley Cup champions were the Victoria Cougars.

The Western League is in trouble. They had hoped to add two teams in Winnipeg, one of the Chris Teahan #12 Kansas Jayhawks White Player Caricature Player Shirt and by the same token and two largest cities in Western Canada, but there were no investors for a team, let alone two. Unlike the NHL, the WHL had no chance of expanding into the United States because most cities west of the Mississippi did not have suitable hockey arenas. At the time, Saskatoon and Victoria had between 30 and 40,000 residents, while Edmonton and Calgary had about 65,000, so the union decided to withdraw. Vancouver’s Lester Patrick organized the sale of the assets of five of the six teams (except the Saskatoon Sheiks, whose owner dropped his own team). The entire Stanley Cup-winning Victoria Cougars team was sold to the owners of a new NHL franchise in Detroit called the Detroit Cougars. At the same time, the Portland Rosebuds were sold to Chicago and became the Black Hawks. In 1930, the Cougars were renamed the Falcons in 1930.
